As blog designer, I navigated the company through each section of our blog site, showing them the pages I had already set up for their roles as well as creating extra pages they requested. Then as a team, we decided to redesign the theme and colour scheme of the blog, to match the design of our posters. We decided to keep the design minimal and professional to keep with the seriousness of our piece but added orange into the headings and other motif’s throughout the blog to match our leaflets and posters. Using part of our leaflet design in our banner across the top of the site particularly helped carry this through. I also added our video trailer that Daniela, (in charge of marketing) made onto our home page. This way it advertises our show straight away and can direct the viewer to our YouTube page as well, where they will be able to find other videos and footage from our rehearsals.

I have created a widget to show our Twitter feed in real time to enable visitors to instantly see our tweets and follow us directly without having to go off our blog. I have also created links in our drop down menu under ‘Our Company’ which direct the blog user straight to our social media sites, without having to leave our blogs or find them individually. This is less time consuming and provides easy access for the user.
As our company is raising money for Amnesty International and raising awareness for other charities and organisations who are supporting immigrants and refugees, I have also attached links of these charities onto our blog. This way the users can find out more information about what the organisations do and can even donate.
As this is my first time designing a professional blog, I have come across some obstacles along the way. For instance, working out how to get the Twitter feed into the blog, as well as editing the ‘Home’ page. As I started playing around with the settings and as WordPress is fairly straight forward to use, I was able to work out how to do everything we needed to do. It also helped that I already have some experience using WordPress as I used it for the Site Specific module in my second year of University.
Overall, I am happy with the design and colour scheme of the blog and feel it is much better than the original design. I think it looks smart and professional and like how it now matches the posters and flyers. I also think it is simple and easy to use which means public users will be able to navigate themselves around the site quickly and easily.
