Breaking Stories Theatre Company is made up of nine females. Meet the girls and their roles:

My role as a producer is to make sure that everything is organised and in check. I have control of the budget and have to work out how much money each department has (i.e. costume, marketing). I created the rehearsal schedule and worked out with the director (Lauren) what each rehearsal would be focusing on. I also liaise with the marketing team (Daniela) to help promote the show though Facebook and Twitter. Also with Daniela we have been working together to obtain the rights to the play the company are doing.

Hello! I’m Lauren. I am the director within Breaking Stories Theatre Company. I will be directing the show with the input of the cast! I have not directed anything as large as this so I am excited to take on the project! ‘The Bogus Woman’ is an extremely controversial piece about immigration, in which I hope to give you a different view of the immigrants coming to England. If you come and see our performance you will find a simple set, as this gives way for the amazing actors to take on the whole stage and show off their acting skills. I hope to produce a performance that is risky, thought provoking and put you on the edge of your seats!

Hi Jess here, I’m the companies stage manager. My role within the process is to document our rehearsals, taking notes for the director and technical team. I also have to log any ideas regarding lighting, sound and cost ect. Passing these notes and ideas into the appropriate teams. I have also taken the role as Head of Stage for the company. For this I have to create lighting images for each scene, as well as, liaising with the venues Theatre Technicians. On the night of the show I will be calling the performance behind the ‘curtains’ as it were, making sure that the shows run smoothly.

Hi I’m Charlie and my overall role in Breaking Stories Theatre Company is Head Technician. Within this role I design the lights, create the videos, and discover the music and sound effects used within the performance. With the help from Kate; my technical assistant, it is my job to make sure that all technical aspects that are required in the show are positioned correctly within certain scenes; this is to aid the audience to respond to the narrative of how we would like them personally to observe a different view on immigration.

My main role within the company is actor, this means that I work alongside the fellow actors and under the guidance of the director and stage manager. I play 11 characters which means multi rolling is essential and a challenge that I am finding really engaging. My second role is that of assistant technician, by which I work alongside the head of tech, Charlie, in order to make sure that sounds, lighting and videos used in the performance are all correct and fitting with the requirements of the performance. I chose these two roles as I love acting, but have always found the technical side of theatre interesting and wanted to try my hand at it.

My role as an actress is to act in the performance, something I love to do! I don’t just take on one role in this performance; I take on a multitude of roles. This performance will challenge me as an actress to be able to portray completely different characters and have the ability to switch between them in seconds! My second role is to work together with Alicia to obtain all of the costumes and props for the performance, which isn’t hard because shopping, is one of my top sports! Breaking stories is a great theatre company to work for as we all work to our strengths!

My main role within the theatre company is an actress in the performance. Whilst I am comfortable working with the other performers and enjoying learning lines, I have also taken on the role alongside Faye, to be in charge of costumes and prop designs. Whilst I have never had the opportunity of working in this field, it has been so fun being able to make these decisions and can’t wait to see how all our creative inputs create an amazing performance!! By choosing these different roles, I hope it shows my versatility and how much I enjoy working in a theatre company!!

Hi guy’s I’m Daniela and my role within the company is marketing. I’m really excited about promoting our work because we are offering something so very unique and compelling. Our art is produced by an all-female cast with an all-female company. I have identified we are the only Theatre Company in Lincoln who offers this which makes seeing our performance of The Bogus Woman even more spectacular! My role will include, promoting the performance through advertising, direct mail/ e-mail, via social media and through word of mouth. Design is also a key factor of my role as I have helped design and create our leaflets and posters. I love putting my creative skills to use and this was the perfect opportunity, so look out for our flyers!! Further to this liaising with suppliers to find suitable prices for our marketing campaign is also something I have to be aware of to keep within our budget. Ultimately my responsibility is to spread the word and get as many people to see our performance as possible.

Hi, I’m Francesca and my role within the company is blog designer and performer. This is the first time I have designed a blog so I know I will be faced with many challenges as well as having the opportunity to gain new skills. However, my main role within the company is being a performer. I have been lucky enough to perform a variety of roles inside and out of University but playing the ‘Young Woman’ in The Bogus Woman’ is my largest and biggest role yet. As the play is based on real life events and represents immigrants even in today’s society, I feel the role is extremely important in giving a voice to the voiceless and I hope to give the character justice.
